Frederick John Robinson Collection

Frederick John Robinson (1782-1859) was a British politician and statesman who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1827 to 1828. He was born in London, England and educated at Eton College before entering politics. He served as Chancellor of the Exchequer under Lord Liverpool from 1823 to 1827, during which time he introduced several important reforms such as the repeal of the Corn Laws and the introduction of income tax. After becoming Prime Minister in 1827, he worked to improve relations with France and other European countries, while also continuing his fiscal reforms. His government fell in early 1828 due to a lack of support for his policies, but he remained an influential figure in British politics until his death in 1859.
