Tarn is a department in the Occitanie region of southern France, and is bordered by the departments of Aveyron, Hérault, Haute-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne, Lot and Aude. The department covers an area of 6,821 square kilometres and has a population of approximately 590,000 people. The capital city is Albi which is known for its red brick cathedral and old town centre. Other notable towns include Castres and Gaillac which are known for their vineyards producing some excellent wines.
