Kearns was known for his tenacity and versatility on the pitch, able to play in a variety of positions with equal effectiveness. His commitment and passion for the game were an inspiration to his teammates and fans alike, earning him the nickname "The Tank." Off the field, Kearns was equally dedicated to his community. He was an active member of the Coventry City Supporters' Club and worked tirelessly to promote football in the city.
