EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the legendary Lancashire cricketer, Charlie Hallows, during the 1930 season. Known for his remarkable skills as an opening batsman, Hallows dedicatedly represented Lancashire County Cricket Club for eighteen years between 1914 and 1932. Throughout his illustrious career, he amassed a staggering total of 20,142 runs with an impressive tally of 52 centuries in first-class games. His exceptional talent even earned him the opportunity to play two Tests for England. One particular highlight in Hallows' career occurred in May of 1928 when he achieved a truly extraordinary feat - scoring an incredible 1,000 runs within that month alone. This accomplishment had only been previously attained by cricket legends WG Grace in 1895 and Wally Hammond also in 1928. Astonishingly enough, no player has managed to replicate this record-breaking performance since then. The photo itself exudes a timeless charm as it showcases Hallows' focused gaze and poised stance at the crease. The monochromatic tones add depth and character to this vintage image captured by Colorsport / Wilkes photography company. It serves as a testament to not only Hallows' immense talent but also his significant contributions to Lancashire cricket history.
