EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the thrilling action of the CJ12 9625 Riorden Welby and Jack Moody racing their Rover SD1 in the HRDC Gerry Marshall Trophy Series. The event took place on the iconic Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit in Longfield, Kent, England on May 28th, 2023. With over 30 cars lining up on the grid for this exhilarating forty-five-minute two-driver race featuring pre-1980's Touring Cars, spectators were treated to a spectacle of speed and skill. The cars were split into four classes based on engine capacity, with an additional Willhire class for Invited Production Touring Cars. The Masters Historic Festival provided a perfect backdrop for this high-octane motor sport event organized by the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC). As drivers navigated through each corner of the circuit, they showcased their expertise behind the wheel while pushing these vintage racing machines to their limits. In this particular moment captured by Chris McEvoy from CJM Photography, we witness one of many pit stops during the race. Mechanics work swiftly to refuel and make any necessary adjustments before sending these powerful machines back onto the track. This image perfectly encapsulates not only the excitement and competition that comes with circuit racing but also highlights the beauty and nostalgia associated with classic saloon cars. It serves as a testament to both driver skill and engineering excellence that continues to captivate motorsport enthusiasts around the world.
