1. "A Blast from the Past: George Daniell and His MG MGA Twin Cam Shine at the 2024 VSCC Pomeroy Trophy The sun may not have been out in full force, but the excitement was palpable as the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) kicked off their season with the Pomeroy Trophy event at the iconic Silverstone Grand Prix circuit in Northamptonshire, England. Drizzle and dull weather did little to dampen the spirits of the competitors and spectators alike, as they gathered for a day filled with fun, nostalgia, and motor sport. Among the historic cars gracing the track was the MG MGA Twin Cam driven by George Daniell. This beautiful machine, which first ran in 1952, was a sight to behold as it roared around the circuit. The Pomeroy Trophy is renowned for its diversity, featuring cars from all eras and types. The event consisted of a set of four auto-tests followed by forty minutes of racing on the full Grand Prix circuit. Three trophies were up for grabs at the event: the Pomeroy Trophy, Densham Trophy, Pomeroy Edwardian Trophy, Voiturette Trophy, and the Gordon Spice Cup. George Daniell, hailing from England, was determined to bring home one of these prestigious awards. As the day wore on, the competition heated up. Saloon cars and sports cars, both retro and pre-war, whizzed past the grandstands, their engines growling and their tires screeching. The air was filled with the intoxicating mix of fuel, oil, and adrenaline. The drizzle may have made the track slippery, but it only added to the thrill of the race. In the end, it was George Daniell who took home the Gordon Spice Cup with his impressive performance in the MG MGA Twin Cam. As he crossed the finish line, the crowd erupted in applause, celebrating not just his victory, but the spirit of motorsport that had brought them all together on this dreary February day at Silverstone.
