William Shakespeare Collection

William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His surviving works consist of 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 to a successful middle class glove maker. He married Anne Hathaway at age 18 with whom he had three children: Susanna, Hamnet (died at age 11) and Judith. At age 29 he left his family behind to pursue a career in London as an actor and playwright where he wrote some of his most famous works such as Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet etc. He died on April 23rd 1616 at the age of 52 leaving behind a legacy that still lives on today through his work which continues to be studied by millions around the world.
