King Vidor Collection

King Vidor (1894-1982) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his silent films such as The Big Parade (1925), The Crowd (1928), and Stella Dallas (1937). He also directed a number of sound films including Hallelujah. (1929), Our Daily Bread (1934), Duel in the Sun (1946) and War and Peace (1956). Vidor was nominated for five Academy Awards throughout his career, winning one for Best Director in 1929 for the film The Crowd. His work is renowned for its innovative camera techniques, use of light, and ability to capture emotion on screen. Vidor's influence can still be seen today in modern cinema through his pioneering use of cinematic language.
