Andrea del Verrocchio Collection

Andrea del Verrocchio (1435-1488) was an Italian sculptor, goldsmith, and painter of the Renaissance. He was born in Florence and apprenticed to the sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti. He is best known for his bronze sculptures, such as the equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni in Venice. His paintings include The Baptism of Christ (1475), which he painted with Leonardo da Vinci as his assistant. Verrocchio's influence on other artists was significant; he trained many famous painters including Sandro Botticelli and Perugino.
