Claes Jansz Visscher Collection

Claes Jansz Visscher was a Dutch Golden Age artist and engraver. He was born in Amsterdam in 1587 and died in 1652. His works were mainly landscapes, cityscapes, and architectural scenes. He is best known for his prints of the Siege of Haarlem (1637) and the Battle of Nieuwpoort (1600). He also produced a series of bird's-eye views of Dutch cities, including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, Delft and Dordrecht. His work was highly influential on other artists during this period such as Jan van de Velde II and Jan van Goyen.
