Giovanni Stradano Collection

Giovanni Stradano (1540-1614) was an Italian painter, engraver, and draftsman of the late Renaissance period. He was born in Florence and is known for his religious works, portraits, and landscapes. His style combined elements of Mannerism with a more naturalistic approach to painting. He worked in Rome for Pope Gregory XIII before returning to Florence where he became a member of the Accademia del Disegno. Stradano's works are held in many museums around the world including the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, The Louvre in Paris, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
