Giovanni di Ser Giovanni Scheggia Collection

Giovanni di Ser Giovanni Scheggia, also known as Lo Scheggia, was an Italian painter of the early Renaissance period. He was born in Florence and is believed to have been a student of Masaccio. He is best known for his frescoes in the church of Santa Maria Novella and for his altarpiece depicting the Coronation of the Virgin in San Pancrazio. His style was influenced by Masaccio's use of linear perspective and chiaroscuro, as well as by Fra Angelico's use of bright colors. Lo Scheggia's work has been described as having a "lively naturalism" that captures everyday life with great detail. His influence can be seen in later works by artists such as Andrea del Castagno and Domenico Ghirlandaio.
