Charles Roscoe Savage (1832-1909) was an American painter and photographer. He was born in England and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was a young boy. He studied art at the Royal Academy of Arts in London before moving to Utah in 1864, where he became a successful photographer. His photographs of Native Americans, landscapes, and Mormon pioneers are some of his most famous works. He also painted many portraits and landscapes during his lifetime, which were exhibited at various galleries throughout the United States. His work has been featured in numerous books and exhibitions over the years, including a retrospective exhibition at Brigham Young University in 2008. Charles Roscoe Savage is remembered as one of America's most important photographers from the 19th century who captured some of its earliest images on film.
