Thomas Sandby (1721-1798) was an English draughtsman, architect, and teacher of architecture. He is best known for his work as a founding member of the Royal Academy of Arts in London. He was also a founding member of the Royal Society of Arts and served as its first secretary. Sandby was an important figure in the development of British landscape painting and architectural design during the 18th century. He designed many buildings, including Windsor Castle's Round Tower and several country houses in England.
