Antique illustration of Apollo and Muses on Mount Parnassus (from a painting by Nicolas Poussin, (17th century French painter). According to Greek mythology Mount Parnassus is a mountain in Greece, that was sacred to to Apollo and the Corycian nymphs, and it was the home of the Muses and the place were the fountain Castalia was located, it was a place of poetry, music, and learning. In fact in the picture there is the God Apollo surrounded by nymphs and poets with their books (one of them is drinking from a cup held by the God). There are also nymphs with musical instruments (trumpet) and with mask (referring to theatre). Little kids and angels crown men and women with laurels.
