Louis Montegut is an artist and arts educator based in New Orleans. He has a passion for creating art that celebrates the African-American experience, as well as exploring the history of his hometown. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., The Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, and The National Gallery of Jamaica. He is also a professor at Xavier University where he teaches classes on painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and digital media. Louis Montegut's artwork reflects his commitment to social justice through its focus on African-American culture and history. His work speaks to a wide range of topics from civil rights to environmental issues while still maintaining its beauty and vibrancy.
