Daniel Marot Collection

Daniel Marot (1661-1752) was a French designer, architect, and engraver who had an influential role in the development of the Rococo style. He was born in Paris and trained as a draftsman before becoming an apprentice to Jean Berain. Marot worked for Louis XIV before moving to England where he became court designer to William III and Queen Mary II. He designed many of the interiors at Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Windsor Castle, and other royal residences. His work is characterized by its ornate detail and intricate designs which incorporated elements of classical architecture with Baroque decoration.
