James Dickson Innes Collection

James Dickson Innes (1887-1914) was a Welsh landscape painter and etcher who is best known for his Impressionist style of painting. He was born in Cardiff, Wales and studied at the Slade School of Art in London. After graduating, he travelled extensively throughout Europe, visiting France, Italy, Germany and Austria. His works were heavily influenced by the Impressionists such as Monet and Pissarro. He also experimented with Post-Impressionism techniques such as pointillism. Innes' paintings are characterized by their bright colors and use of light to create atmosphere. His works often depict rural scenes such as farms, cottages and landscapes with a strong focus on nature's beauty. He died tragically young at the age of 27 from tuberculosis but his legacy lives on through his beautiful artworks which can be found in many galleries around the world today.
