Inuit School Inuit School Collection

Inuit School is an organization dedicated to providing educational resources and support to Inuit youth. It was founded in 2013 by Inuk artist, educator, and activist Shuvinai Ashoona. The organization works with schools and communities across the Arctic to provide programming that celebrates Inuit culture, language, art, history, and knowledge. Through workshops and activities like storytelling circles, drumming circles, art classes, traditional games and sports tournaments they help build a sense of community among the youth while also teaching them about their cultural heritage. They also provide resources for teachers on how to best teach Inuit topics in their classrooms as well as offering scholarships for post-secondary education. By connecting students with their culture through these activities they hope to empower them to become leaders in their communities who can make positive changes for future generations of Inuit people.
