Samuel Hollyer Collection

Samuel Hollyer is a British artist and printmaker who specializes in etching, lithography, and wood engraving. He was born in London in 1826 and studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1845 to 1850. He has exhibited his works at the Royal Academy since 1851 and has been a member of the Society of Painter-Etchers since its foundation in 1880. His works are held by many public collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, British Museum, National Gallery of Scotland, and Fitzwilliam Museum. His prints feature landscapes as well as portraits of notable figures such as Charles Dickens and William Morris. He was also known for his illustrations for books such as The Arabian Nights Entertainments (1863). Samuel Hollyer died in 1909 after a long career that saw him become one of Britain's most celebrated printmakers.
