Ernst Hader Collection

Ernst Hader (1898-1956) was a German artist and printmaker. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he was influenced by Expressionism and Cubism. His work often featured abstracted figures, landscapes, and still lifes. He also experimented with lithography, etching, woodcuts, and linocuts. During the 1920s he created a series of prints that depicted everyday life in Germany during this period. In 1933 he moved to England to escape Nazi persecution of Jews; there he continued to produce artworks until his death in 1956. His works are held in numerous public collections around the world including The British Museum and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
