Grigori Grigorevich Gagarin Collection

Grigori Grigorevich Gagarin was a Russian artist and sculptor who is best known for his monumental sculptures, which often depicted Soviet leaders. He was born in 1883 in the city of Tver, Russia and studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg from 1902 to 1908. His works were exhibited throughout Russia and abroad, including at the Venice Biennale in 1910. Gagarin's most famous works include monuments to Vladimir Lenin, Alexander Pushkin, and other prominent figures from Russian history. He also created several public sculptures for Moscow's Red Square. Gagarin died in 1934 after suffering a stroke while working on a sculpture of Stalin for the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition Park outside Moscow. His legacy lives on through his many sculptures that still stand today as symbols of Soviet power and strength during that era.
