Theophile Emmanuel Duverger Collection

Theophile Emmanuel Duverger was a French painter, sculptor, and engraver born in 1821. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was a student of François-Édouard Picot. His works are characterized by their strong colors and dynamic compositions. He is best known for his paintings of historical scenes, such as the Siege of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War (1870–71). Duverger also produced many sculptures, including monuments to Napoleon III and Victor Hugo. He was awarded several medals for his work during his lifetime, including the Legion d'Honneur in 1867. His works can be found in museums around France, including the Louvre Museum in Paris.
