George Haydock Dodgson Collection

George Haydock Dodgson was an English artist, illustrator and author. He is best known for his illustrations of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, as well as for his many books of poetry. He was born in 1832 in Daresbury, Cheshire, England and studied mathematics at Oxford University. His artistic career began when he started illustrating books for Macmillan & Co., which eventually led to him writing and illustrating his own works. His work has been praised for its vivid imagination and whimsical style. He is also remembered for his photographs of young children, which he took while working at a school near Oxford. George Haydock Dodgson died in 1898 but continues to be remembered as one of the most influential artists of the Victorian era.
