Claude Louis Desrais Collection

Claude Louis Desrais (1746-1823) was a French artist and engraver. He is best known for his engravings of the works of Jean-Honoré Fragonard, François Boucher, and Hubert Robert. Desrais was born in Paris and apprenticed to an engraver at the age of 15. He worked as an independent artist for many years before being appointed as a professor at the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in 1785. His works were widely admired during his lifetime, particularly for their technical skill and attention to detail.
