Sebastiano Conca Collection

Sebastiano Conca is an Italian painter and draughtsman of the late Baroque period. He was born in Gaeta, Italy in 1680 and died in Rome in 1764. He was a pupil of Francesco Solimena, and his style was influenced by Luca Giordano. His works are mainly religious paintings, but he also painted some landscapes and genre scenes. He is best known for his altarpieces for churches throughout Italy, such as the Madonna della Neve at San Silvestro al Quirinale in Rome. His works can be found in many public collections including the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., The Louvre Museum, Paris and The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York City.
