Giovanni Domenico Campiglia (1720-1790) was an Italian painter and engraver of the late Baroque period. He was born in Rome and studied under Sebastiano Conca, Carlo Maratta, and Francesco Trevisani. His works were mainly religious paintings, but he also produced some landscapes and genre scenes. He became a member of the Accademia di San Luca in 1747. His most famous work is The Martyrdom of St Lawrence, which hangs in the Church of San Lorenzo in Lucina in Rome. He also painted frescoes for churches throughout Italy including Santa Maria della Vittoria, Santa Maria del Popolo, Sant'Agnese fuori le Mura, and San Giovanni dei Fiorentini.
