Patrick Branwell Bronte was an English painter and poet, best known as the only brother of the famous Bronte sisters. He was born in 1817 in Yorkshire, England, to Patrick and Maria Bronte. He attended grammar school but left at age 16 without completing his studies. His father encouraged him to pursue a career in art, so he moved to London where he studied painting and exhibited his work at the Royal Academy of Arts.
