His style was influenced by Bronzino and Michelangelo, as well as the Florentine School of painting. He is best known for his religious paintings, such as the "Madonna and Child with St John" (1602), which is housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Other works include "The Martyrdom of St Sebastian" (1605) and "The Sacrifice of Isaac" (1614). He also painted portraits, such as that of Grand Duke Cosimo II de' Medici.
