Jean Alaux Collection

Jean Alaux was a French painter of the 19th century who specialized in historical and genre scenes. He was born in 1810 in Bordeaux and studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was awarded a gold medal for his painting of "The Death of Caesar". He went on to become an official painter to King Louis-Philippe, and his works were exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1831 onward.
