EDITORS COMMENTS
Great moment captured in Arsenal's 6-0 victory over Sheffield United in the Carling Cup third round at Emirates Stadium on September 23, 2008. In this image, Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs (left) celebrates with Sheffield United's David Cotterill (center) and Greg Halford (right) after Gibbs scored his first goal for the Gunners. Gibbs, who had joined Arsenal from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2008, was making his home debut for the club, and his goal helped Arsenal secure a comfortable win in this Carling Cup tie. The young left-back's strike came in the second half, making it 5-0 for the hosts. The goal was set up by a brilliant team move, with Cesc Fabregas providing the final pass. Gibbs controlled the ball with ease and finished coolly past Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny. Cotterill and Halford, who were both Sheffield United players at the time, were on the pitch as opponents when Gibbs scored, but they couldn't help but join in the celebrations. The camaraderie between the players, even in the heat of competition, is a testament to the spirit of football and the respect that exists between teams. This image captures the excitement and joy of the moment, with Gibbs' teammates and even opponents coming together to celebrate his first goal for Arsenal. It's a reminder of the passion and energy that makes football such an incredible sport.
