Corrugated iron shed. Recycled WW2 Nissen hut. The igloo (nissen hut) was bought at an army disposal sale in Darwin after WW2, transported to ount Isa and resold to AJ Power in the early.1950s. He erected it at Bushy Park on pipe posts as a general purpose shed. The original hut was black so AJ and CA Power painted it silver in 1957 to be repainted in future years as required. . From War Relic to Silver Sanctuary - The Incredible Journey of a Nissen Hut

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this photo print, we witness the remarkable transformation of a humble corrugated iron shed. Once an igloo-like structure used during World War II, this recycled Nissen hut found its way from an army disposal sale in Darwin to the vast landscapes of Bushy Park Cattle Station in North Queensland, Australia. Originally painted black, it was AJ Power who saw potential in this weathered relic and decided to give it new life. With determination and creativity, he transported the hut all the way to Mount Isa before reselling it. In the early 1950s, AJ erected it on pipe posts at Bushy Park as a versatile general purpose shed. But that's not where the story ends! In 1957, AJ and CA Power took their ingenuity one step further by painting the once-black shelter silver. This bold choice not only added a touch of glamour but also ensured easy repainting for years to come. Now standing proudly amidst breathtaking Australian scenery, this corrugated iron shed-turned-silver sanctuary serves as a testament to resourcefulness and adaptability. It reminds us that even objects with wartime origins can find beauty and purpose long after conflict has ceased. So let's raise our glasses (or paintbrushes) to AJ Power's vision and celebrate this extraordinary journey from war-torn past to shining symbol of resilience!
