Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage - Zambia - Africa
Pan troglodytes
Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage is recognised as the worlds largest dedicated sanctuary for orphaned chimps. As chimpanzees are not indigenous to Zambia it is not possible to free-release them locally, therefore 2, 000 acres of forest land has been designated to the chimps.

EDITORS COMMENTS
The print captures a powerful moment of aggression in a chimpanzee at Chimfunshi Chimpanzee Reserve in Zambia, Africa. The intense expression on the face of the chimpanzee conveys a sense of dominance and strength as it displays its teeth in a threatening manner. Chimpanzees are known for their complex social behaviors and hierarchies, with aggression being a natural part of their interactions. This particular image showcases the raw power and primal instincts that these incredible animals possess. Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage is dedicated to providing a safe haven for orphaned chimps, offering them 2,000 acres of forest land to roam freely. As chimpanzees are not native to Zambia, they cannot be released into the wild locally, making this sanctuary crucial for their survival. Photographer M. Watson has captured this striking moment with precision and skill, highlighting the beauty and ferocity of these magnificent creatures. The detail in the chimp's expression is both captivating and slightly unnerving, reminding us of the untamed nature that lies within all living beings. This stunning print serves as a reminder of the importance of conservation efforts to protect endangered species like chimpanzees and preserve their habitats for future generations to enjoy.
