Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage - Zambia - Africa
Pan troglodytes
Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage is recognised as the worlds largest dedicated sanctuary for orphaned chimps. As chimpanzees are not indigenous to Zambia it is not possible to free-release them locally, therefore 2, 000 acres of forest land has been designated to the chimps.

EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: "Mother's Embrace: A Moment of Bonding in the Chimfunshi Chimp Reserve, Zambia, Africa" This evocative photograph captures the tender moment of connection between a loving chimpanzee mother and her young offspring, nestled safely in her arms, high up in the lush canopy of the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage forest in Zambia, Africa. Chimpanzees, scientifically known as Pan troglodytes, are not native to Zambia, and due to this, the 2,000-acre Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage has become their permanent home. Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage, renowned as the world's largest dedicated sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees, provides these primates with a nurturing environment, allowing them to live as close to their natural habitat as possible. The chimps are unable to be released into the wild in Zambia, making this forested reserve their forever home. As you gaze upon this image, take a moment to appreciate the intricate bond between the mother and her young, a testament to the strong family ties that exist within the chimpanzee community. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of preserving and protecting these magnificent primates and their habitats.
