Gibbon Collection

Gibbons are a type of ape found in tropical and subtropical rainforests across Southeast Asia, and are the smallest of the great apes, with males reaching up to 1 meter tall and weighing up to 14 kilograms. Gibbons have long arms that they use for swinging through trees, and their bodies are covered in thick black or brown fur. They live in small family groups consisting of one male, one female, and their offspring. Gibbons feed on fruit, leaves, insects, birds' eggs and small mammals. They also communicate using loud calls that can be heard from several kilometers away, and are highly intelligent animals that can even learn sign language to communicate with humans. Unfortunately they face threats from habitat destruction due to deforestation as well as illegal hunting for bushmeat or pet trade purposes. Conservation efforts must be taken if we want these amazing creatures to survive in the wild for future generations.
