Burmese Python Collection

The Burmese Python (Python bivittatus) is a large, non-venomous snake native to Southeast Asia, and is one of the five largest species of snakes in the world and can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh up to 200 pounds, and are excellent swimmers and have been known to swim in both saltwater and freshwater habitats and are excellent climbers, able to scale trees with ease. They feed primarily on small mammals such as rats, mice, rabbits, birds, lizards, amphibians and even other snakes. In recent years they have become an invasive species in Florida due to their ability to adapt quickly and reproduce rapidly in new environments. As a result they pose a threat to local wildlife populations by competing for resources with native species such as alligators or birds of prey. The best way for people living near these areas is prevention by not releasing pet pythons into the wild or disposing of them improperly when no longer wanted as pets.
