Crowned Snake Collection

Crowned snakes are a species of nonvenomous snakes found in the United States and Mexico, and are small, usually between 8-14 inches long, and have a distinct pattern of black or dark brown stripes on their back. The head is usually darker than the body and has a distinctive yellow or orange crown-like marking on the top. Crowned snakes prefer to live in dry habitats such as deserts, grasslands, and open woodlands. They feed mainly on insects but will also eat small lizards and frogs if available. These snakes are active during the day but may become nocturnal during hot weather to avoid dehydration, and are not considered dangerous to humans due to their small size and nonvenomous nature; however they can still bite if provoked or threatened so it is best to leave them alone when encountered in the wild.
