Nasutus Collection

Nasutus is a genus of vespertilionidae mammals, commonly known as the greater long-eared bats, and are small to medium-sized bats with a wingspan of up to 17 cm and weigh between 8 and 15 g. They have large ears that can reach up to 4 cm in length, giving them their name, and are found in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Their diet consists mainly of insects such as moths and beetles which they catch in flight using echolocation. Nasutus roosts in trees or caves during the day but can also be found foraging at night over open areas such as fields or meadows, and are solitary animals but may form small colonies when roosting together for warmth during cold weather conditions.
