Niger Collection

Niger is a family of small mammals that includes shrews, moles, and solenodons, and are found in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. They range in size from 2 to 12 inches long and weigh between 0.2 ounces to 4 pounds. Niger Soricidae have long snouts with small eyes and ears that are hidden under their fur. They have short legs with five toes on each foot and a long tail that is usually covered in fur or scales. Their diet consists mainly of insects but they also eat worms, spiders, amphibians, reptiles, fruits and nuts. These animals live in burrows or dens which they dig themselves or find abandoned by other animals such as rodents or birds. Niger Soricidae are active during the day but can also be active at night depending on the species.
