Sibiricus Collection

Sibiricus, also known as the Siberian flying squirrel, is a species of Sciuridae mammal found in Russia and parts of China and has a unique adaptation that allows it to glide from tree to tree by spreading its patagium (a furry membrane between its legs). Its fur is usually greyish-brown with white patches on the sides and back and has large eyes for night vision and long whiskers for navigation. Sibiricus feeds mainly on nuts, seeds, fruits, fungi, lichens and insects. During winter months it hibernates in nests made from bark or leaves high up in trees, and are solitary animals but can be found living together in small groups during mating season, and are considered an important part of the local ecosystem due to their role as seed dispersers and predators of pests like moths and beetles.
