Irrorata Collection

Irrorata are a family of mammals in the order Pitheciidae, and are found in South and Central America, and range from Mexico to Brazil. These animals have long, slender bodies with short legs and a long tail. Their fur is usually grey or brownish-grey with white patches on their faces, backs, and bellies. They feed mainly on fruits and insects but will also eat small birds or lizards if they can catch them and can active during the day, sleeping at night in tree hollows or other sheltered areas. They live in groups of up to 15 individuals which help them defend against predators such as jaguars or ocelots and can important seed dispersers for many tropical trees as they travel through the forest eating fruit which helps spread seeds over large distances.
