Glauca Collection

Glauca is a genus of bats belonging to the family Phyllostomidae. These animals are found in Central and South America, with some species extending into Mexico, and are medium-sized bats, typically ranging from 4 to 6 inches in length and weighing up to 1 ounce. They have long, pointed ears and a short muzzle that is often reddish or yellowish in color. Their fur can be gray or brown with white tips on their wings and tail. Glauca feed primarily on insects but may also eat fruit or nectar when available. They roost in trees during the day, forming large colonies of up to several hundred individuals at night. Glauca play an important role in controlling insect populations throughout their range and provide valuable pollination services for many plants as well.
