Walrus Collection

Walruses (Odobenidae) are large, semi-aquatic mammals that live in the Arctic Ocean and adjacent seas, and are the only living members of the Odobenidae family and have a thick layer of blubber to keep them warm in cold waters. Walruses have long tusks that can be used for defense and to break through ice. They also use their tusks to dig for clams, which make up a large part of their diet. Walruses can grow up to 3 meters long and weigh over 1,700 kilograms. They live in herds on sea ice or on land, where they use their flippers to move around like seals do. Walrus populations have been declining due to hunting and climate change, but conservation efforts are helping them recover slowly but surely.
