Musk Ox Collection

The Musk Ox is a large mammal found in the Arctic tundra of North America, Greenland, and Russia, and are covered in thick fur and have long curved horns that can reach up to three feet in length. The Musk Ox is well adapted to the cold climate of its habitat, with a double layer of fur for insulation and hooves that spread out wide for traction on icy surfaces, and are herbivores that feed mainly on grasses, sedges, mosses, lichens and shrubs. In addition to their diet they also consume carrion when available. Musk Oxen live in herds of up to 30 individuals led by a dominant male known as a bull. These animals are social creatures that communicate through vocalizations such as grunts and snorts as well as body language such as head bobbing or horn clashing. Despite their size they are surprisingly agile climbers who can scale steep slopes with ease due to their specialized hooves which help them grip onto rocks or ice surfaces.
