The Spiny Mouse (Acomys cahirinus) is a small rodent belonging to the Muridae family of mammals, and is native to the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Europe, grayish-brown fur with white underparts and a long tail covered in spines. Its ears are large and its eyes are black. It feeds mainly on seeds, fruits, insects, and other small invertebrates. The Spiny Mouse is nocturnal and lives in burrows or crevices in rocks or trees and can be found living in groups of up to five individuals but usually live alone or with one mate during breeding season, and are active throughout the year but may become dormant during periods of extreme cold weather or drought conditions.
