Orestes is a genus of muridae mammals in the family Cricetidae, and are small rodents that inhabit grasslands, woodlands, and shrublands in Central and South America. They have a long body with short legs and ears, a pointed snout, and large eyes. Their fur is usually grayish-brown or reddish-brown in color with white underparts.
