Fulvus Collection

Fulvus is a genus of Mormoopidae mammals, commonly known as ghost-faced bats, and are found in Central and South America, from Mexico to Peru, and are small bats, with a wingspan of about 8 inches and weighing only 0.5 ounces. Their fur is usually brown or gray in color, with lighter patches on their undersides. They have large ears that point forward and their faces are covered with short hairs that give them a “ghostly” appearance. Fulvus feed mainly on insects such as moths and beetles, which they capture while flying at night using echolocation to locate prey in the dark. They roost during the day in caves or other sheltered areas such as hollow trees or buildings. These animals play an important role in controlling insect populations by consuming large numbers of pests each night.
