Quokka Collection

Quokka (Macropodidae) are small marsupial mammals native to Australia, and are the only living species of their genus, and have a stocky build with short, rounded ears and a short tail. Quokkas have thick fur that is usually grey-brown in color, but may also be reddish or black and can reach up to 2 feet in length and weigh up to 11 pounds, and are herbivores that feed on grasses, leaves, fruits, and flowers. They live in small family groups of 4-20 individuals within a home range of about 1 square mile, and are active during the day and rest at night in hollows or rocky crevices for protection from predators such as foxes and dingoes. These animals are considered vulnerable due to habitat destruction caused by human activities such as mining and logging operations. Conservation efforts have been put into place to protect quokka populations across Australia's south-west region where they still remain today.
