Red Slender Loris Collection

The Red Slender Loris is a species of lorisid mammal native to India and Sri Lanka, and is one of the smallest primates in the world, with an average body length of around 8-10 inches and a weight of only 4-5 ounces. The Red Slender Loris has distinctive reddish fur on its head, neck, back, and limbs. Its eyes are large and round with black pupils that can be seen even in low light conditions and has long slender arms and legs which it uses to climb trees in search of food such as insects, fruits, flowers, leaves, buds and nectar. The Red Slender Loris is nocturnal by nature but can also be active during the day when food sources are abundant. They live mainly in tropical rainforests but have also been found living in dry deciduous forests as well as urban areas near human settlements. Due to habitat destruction and hunting for traditional medicine purposes their numbers have decreased significantly over recent years making them an endangered species according to IUCN's Red List of Threatened Species.
