Black Lemur Collection

Black lemurs (Lemuridae) are a species of primates found in Madagascar, and are medium-sized animals, with males typically weighing between 2 and 4 kg and females between 1.5 and 3 kg. Black lemurs have black fur on their bodies, with white patches around their eyes, nose, chin, and ears. They have long tails that can be used for balance when they leap from tree to tree. Black lemurs live in small family groups of up to six individuals and feed mainly on fruits, leaves, flowers, nectar, insects and small vertebrates such as lizards or birds eggs. They spend most of the day in trees but come down to the ground at night to search for food or water sources, and are endangered due to habitat destruction caused by deforestation for agricultural purposes as well as hunting for bushmeat or illegal pet trade activities.
